A Sign of the Political Times: The Final Weeks
With the November 3rd elections less than two weeks away, the sign wars have continued, or rather worsened in Bucks County. If you’ve not seen our earlier articles on this subject, take a moment to read “A Sign of the (Political) Times in Bucks” and “The Sign Sandwich Man”.
The short version is a PAC supporting Brian Fitzpatrick, our current congressperson for PA-01, started an early, aggressive campaign of signs and misinformation, with a sprinkling of possible lawbreaking for added flavor. It’s a war that’s continued unabated for months with reports of theft and vandalism to police reportedly being ignored by several community members I’ve talked to.
We’ve got documentation of new incidents, the first on 10/22/2026. In Newtown, PA, it looks like Jacob (The Sandwich Man) Quitugua is still at it, and was caught on video covering pro-Bob Harvie and Anti-Fitzpatrick signs with Fitzpatrick PAC's signs. Jacob looks to have new help. The second individual remains unidentified currently, though I'm working on it.

We’ve also gotten video of what appears to be an attempt to steal signs from private property that was thwarted by the property owner. While we don’t know the man’s name, his license plate was captured on video and it has been turned over to the authorities. He’s wearing a distinctive white cowboy hat and drives a black Toyota FJ Cruiser with what looks to be a United States Marine Corps logo.

Bob Harvie supporters and informal sign-team volunteers continue to fight a daily battle against paid PAC employees making thousands of dollars to do this. For the volunteers, each day is spent uncovering signs and repositioning them, often for hours each week. The more organized groups have tried their best to leave existing Pro-Fitzpatrick signs alone, despite the temptation, though there have, unfortunately, been some exceptions.
Shortly after the signs were covered that night, another unidentified man uncovered the Pro-Harvie / Anti-Fitzpatrick signs, even removing the support poles. I want to emphasize again, that this is also wrong, as frustrating as this whole process has become. Leave political signs alone. They are a form of protected political speech.

While returning to the site to reclaim my camera, I’d already observed that the removed Fitzpatrick sign was restored, though the Pro-Harvie signs were now ripped from the ground, with several damaged enough to need repair.

With just over a week to go, I can’t help but wonder how many more days I’ll spend replacing or removing signs (yes, I’m one of those volunteers), just so I and others can exercise our First Amendment rights.
